Our Story
Owner,
Ron Feitl
began his career in the bedding industry over 40 years ago delivering beds at age 16 for his brother, Alan, then co-owner of Dream Waterbeds. At it's peak, Dream Waterbeds amounted to 16 storefronts in the greater Pittsburgh area, with Ron serving as a salesperson and later manager to several of those locations. In time, Ron would venture out into his own business - starting up 'Waterbed Services Co.' in October of 1992. In time, our bedroom collection would come to include not only waterbeds, but also mattresses, air beds, and futons, thus 'Alternative Bedding' would be added to our name to accurately represent the multitude of sleeping surfaces we carry. We now exist as the last remaining full-service waterbed specialty store in Pittsburgh, and one of the few storefronts in the country specializing in waterbeds. Our team includes salespersons Kathy and Dee who have been with our company for decades, as well as numerous family members and close friends who lend their hand when needed. We invite you to take a glimpse into our past, and we hope that you will be a part of our future!
